I can't believe it is already July! I have a feeling the rest of summer is going to fly by without us knowing it. So far it has been filled with...warmth.snowcones.a wedding.sun.parties.cornhole.new niece.sun burns.parades.croquet.bbq's.shorts & sandals.fireworks.bike rides.walking lucy.hiking.playing with friends.popsicles.weekend in St. George.fresh fruit.extra freckles.girls camp.work.tan lines.temple trips.carnivals...just to name a few!

And we get to look forward to:

Jeff and Emmy got married on June 28th! The sealing and reception were both amazing...it was an awesome day!

Temple trip down to Manti! Drew went through for the first time...he leaves for the MTC so soon!

4th of July!!

Yes we made our awesome shirts. It was Jamie's idea! Unfortunately I got drentched by Benjamin before we got a picture of the 4 of us in our matching patriatic shirts!

Grandpa Brady got to ride on a tank in the parade. He is in the hat on the front right corner. He was adoarable with the biggest smile on his face! You could tell he was having so much fun!

Did i mention I won a fish! His name is Abraham!! And yes he is still alive even though I am the only one who thought he would live past a week!

A couple weeks ago this little treasure joined our family! Little Annie Mae! She is so stinking adorable! I love all my nieces and nephews...our family is getting so big!

Hiking in St. George! A group of us were able to go down at the beginning of the summer. We did a lot of swimming, eating, relaxing and hiking:) It was a great way to kick off the summer!

When it Rains it POURS

If you are an avid follower of http://devinandkara.blogspot.com you'll know at least two things about Kara and I:

1 - In the last 2 1/2 years I never have posted a single thing on the blog...until today.

2 - About three weeks ago the late Nissan Maxima (our one and only car) was sold to a body shop after it got rear-ended on the freeway. Woof.

Since the tragic loss of the Nissan we have been borrowing cars from both of our parents which, luckily, hasn't been bad. Although we have spent hours looking for a new car we haven't found anything we like at a price that we can afford. I'm way to picky. It has been a nightmare and to add to our sad story...

On the way home from a car lot last night my dad an I happened upon a nasty wreck on 1-15 in American Fork. We were about 2 minutes behind the accident and got caught in traffic about 50 feet away from a rolled semi-truck.

Twenty feet ahead of us was a car with it's emergency lights on that looked like it was backing down the shoulder of the freeway right next to us. I thought to myself "Oh, someone stopped to help and now they are moving out of the way...how nice." About 4 seconds later I said to my dad, "He better turn or he is going to hit us" and I began to honk on the horn. Another 2.3 seconds later the car was 4 feet away and we, pinned in traffic, came to the realization that no one was in the car. Curse words #1, 2, & 3.

Two hours and a lot of flashing lights later, I had my 2nd accident report in less than 3 weeks and my dad's Corolla had a nice dent in the door.

When it rains it pours, and needless to say there is a gloomy gray cloud of curse words hanging over American Fork.

So here are 10 take aways from the last three weeks:

1 - ALWAYS set your park brake or leave your car in gear when you get out of it...especially on slight inclines. That one seems pretty obvious...but just in case.

2 - New cars are way over-rated because the car that hits you is always in worse shape.

3 - IF you are pinned in traffic, a car is rolling backwards right at you, and its reverse lights aren't on...there probably isn't anyone in the car and you are screwed.

4 - No amount of caution can keep you out of some accidents.

5 - Whiplash is so much worse than it sounds. Really though.

6 - 95% of the cars on KSL are either overpriced or wrecked.

7 - Good insurance is worth every penny.

8 - Asking "why me?" is a horrible idea because it may just happen again so that you can find out.

9 - Firefighters use kitty-litter to clean up oil/gas spills.

10 - People that text and drive and follow to close, literally give me nightmares. I'm not joking.

After all is said and done, I'm just happy that no one has been seriously hurt in any of the accidents. It's honestly a miracle. Drive safe :)

Birthday's galore for the Brady's!

We just got to celebrate Alex and Kristen's birthdays. And as our pictures will show...we had some CRAZY fun! Thursday we went to Tyler and Kristen's for Alex's 3rd birthday party! Then Friday we threw Kristen a party at mom and dad's! We tried to incorporate all of Kristen's favorite things
...adventure...pictures...yummy food...and lots of laugh's! After a jazzy photo shoot we went on our mini version of The Amazing Race. Krist, Ty & I were on a team ( the winning team might I add :)) and we raced against Benjamin, Kate & Devin!

It was so fun, I just love my family!

RIP MAXIMA

There is a tear in my eye and it's sad to say...this is all that we have left from the maxima! (I don't know how the license plate survived) It was our first car! We bought it together right after we got engaged! As much as that car was a pain in the butt it was a great car and will be missed! I was surprised to hear Devin say that he was really sad to see it go! (He and the maxima had a love hate relationship!)
Devin got in a bad wreck on the freeway last week. The cars in front of him stopped and so did he but unfortunately the car behind him didn't see, so the kid that hit Devin was going about 65 when he hit! Devin is doing okay...he is still sore but is fine! The Body Shop said it was going to cost more to fix then the poor maxima is worth. So instead we had to say our good byes! So now we are officially carless...and we thought having one car was sucky! HA! What a week!

BIRTHDAY TIME!!

Yes it was my birthday! I love birthdays I'm not going to lie. This year was so much fun! Devin was able to "work from home" (not much work was done...but i couldn't help that) We woke up bright and early and went to the temple, which was a great way to start my birthday! Then we went to Kneaders for breakfast! When we got home Devin did a little bit of work! For lunch Devin's dad took us to lunch at Applewood BBQ and it was super good! Oh the fun didn't stop there! My family threw an awesome party for Kate and I! Kristen was the mastermind behind our party. Her and my mom did an awesome job with food and games and decorations! We had a Hawaiian extravaganza! Aside from the 10 pounds I gained the week of my birthday everything was great!!

On Saturday Devin wanted to throw me a birthday party! He invited all my friends over and made homemade Cafe Rio salads with lots of yummy drinks. Then we played fun games until we were all wore out!! It was a blast and it was so fun getting together with everyone!!

Taryn kept winning all the prizes!! I think it was her teacher skills that helped her out on that one!!

This is my very first real encounter with Devin!! He coached our powder puff football game my junior year of high school!! Of coarse I had a crush on him...I don't know of anyone who didn't! Ever since we got married I wanted to find a picture of that night and ...vwalla... found one! I wish it was a better picture but I love how little we are in it! Of coarse we won our game and it was very uncommon for juniors to win! I guess we've made a good match from the start!!!

It's sad to say this blog has been very neglected lately! The holidays were so full of fun that I honestly didn't even think twice about blogging! And we took hardly any pictures! I'd say I promise to be better but that is a probably a lie our life is going to be pretty crazy for a while! But our Chirstmas was great and we had loads of fun with family and friends!! I just can't believe it's over!

I have a love hate relationship with FALL!! It's one of my favorite times of year! I love the cooler weather... Getting to wear jackets...the colors...carving pumpkins...caramel apples...parties...dressing up....yummy food and much more! The down side is it doesn't last long enough!!

This was taken at Fish Lake! We went down to devin's grandma's cabin for conference! We were lucky and got to go twice this year!! I love it down there it's so pretty and it's so fun getting away from provo, even for one night!

For the last 3 weekends we have been out of town! We have spent many hours on the road! It's been tons of fun and I'm sad to see the adventures end and to go back to work! But life must go on! Our first adventure was up to Logan. Devin and his dad, uncle, and cousin rode in a century bike race (100 miles around Cache County)!

Our next adventure was over Labor day, we went down to Devin's family's cabin in Fish Lake. We had Drew's eagle court of honor there as well as went fishing in freezing cold weather, went hiking, skipping rocks at the lake, eating our body weight in treats, star gazing, avoiding ticks, eating more treats, and many more adventures.

Then our adventures end with LOTOJA. A 200 mile bike race from Logan to Jackson Hole. Devin's uncle Norm rode in it and Devin was so sad that he didn't sign up early enough to ride. Our job was "support". We drove the bike route, stopping at the feed stations to give Norm food and new water bottles, all together we stopped 3 times and then met him at the finish! He did the race under 10 hours, his best time in 6 years! Then we stayed over night in Jackson Hole, which I love! While we were there there was a Taste of Jackson Festival with food tasting and booths. It was fun to walk around town. On our way out of town we stopped at the Snake river to dangle our toes and eat lunch! Unfortunately before we got out of Wyoming Devin's aunt's car broke down. So we had quite the adventure cramming 10 people and way too much stuff into the an already bursting at the seams SUV! We had lots of laughs and lots of whining, but we made it back in one piece and had a blast along the way!

Last weekend Devin and I went up to Beak Lake with his brothers. We stayed with his aunt, uncle and cousin! It was so fun!! We had quite the adventure this trip! We went to the beach a couple of times. Devin thinks he is better then sunscreen and got toasted one day and is super red!! One night we played glowball (glow in the dark golf) Devin's uncle owns a golf coarse so we went up late at night and took the golf carts out. We had glow in the dark golf balls and then put glow sticks on the poles in each hole! It was intense because there was a lightening storm right above us! I thought we were going to get struck with each swing!

We also went sailing one night. The wind was so wild the side of the boat was practically in the the water. I almost died a couple of times!!

We got to go on a helicopter ride over the lake! It was a rush because it was a small helicopter and there was no door! Luckily Devin had to sit on the outside!!

The last night up there we got to watch fireworks after the boat parade, which completed our grand adventures at Bear Lake! (The home of happiness) My only regret was not getting any shakes!! That is always a bear Lake must!! But overall it was a great trip and I didn't want to come home!!

A couple weeks ago Devin and I went fishing with Taryn and Kolby at Payson Lakes! Kolby has a canoe which was awesome..now Devin is convinced we need one as well!! We caught a lot of fish and I am proud to say most of the catches were mine and Taryn's!! It was so much fun I can't wait to go again!!

TWO YEARS!

Yesterday was our two year anniversary! I can't believe that Devin and I have serisouly already been married for two years! (Unfortunately this means that everyone is getting on our case about having kids! My mom can't get enough grandchildren and Cindy is dying to get one!) We both had work yesterday so we celebrated on saturday! I felt bad because Devin had some fun plans that got ruined by the rain but we still had a great day! We went up and spent the day in Salt Lake. Enjoyed some shopping, one of our favorite activities! Then we went to dinner at Tacanos...yum! After dinner we went to the Planetarium and watch an IMAX movie in 3D which was really cool! Basically we just got to hang out all day just the two of us and I loved every second of it!! Sorry once we got to SLC I realized the camera batteries were dead so no pictures this time! But I promise to get better at posting more often! I guess I'll leave a little run down on life for us lately becuase I have been neglecting our little blog. We have been super busy, we just moved out of our apartment and are living with Devin's family for the summer. Everyone thinks that it is so dreadful moving in with family but Devin and I have loved it! It's nice saving rent and having a big kitchen to cook in and always having someone to play with. The only thing I haven't worked out yet is getting Lucy to stop shedding. Haha! Devin is doing an internship at Novell this summer and working for Dad part time. I am working at Primrose Retreat in Spanish Fork so if anyone needs their hair done or wants a lovely day at the spa let me know! Our summer is going to be full of working but we are hoping to get away to Bear Lake and Fish Lake a couple of times and of coarse the famous Brady family reunion! So hopefully I'll have more to blog about soon!

Tulip Festival

On Saturday Devina and I went to to Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point with Devin's brother and his girlfriend. It was lots of fun! I think I enjoyed it so much because it was the first time I really spent time out in the warm sun! I am so ready to kiss winter goodbye. The festival was pretty there was some gorgeous flowers and landscaping but a lot of the flowers hadn't bloomed yet. It was still loads of fun!

Easter Weekend

Easter was a blast! We had an egg scavenger hunt on saturday afternoon with the kids! Then we played fun games with the adults! Kate and Kristen put together these game like the new game show Minute to Win It! It was a blast!! Then we watched Conference and on Sunday after conference we had a big dinner with My aunt, uncle, cousins and Grandma Jake!

Devin and I just got done doing ab ripper X and an arm and back work out with the P90X program. Let me tell you it is very pathetic when your legs hurt worse from the ab work out than your actual abdominal. Oh and my arms feel like jello! It is quite the work out. But the whole time you have this 45 year old man doing triple the work that you are doing so you can't quit!!! It's pretty fun though. I'm starting to get more excited about working out lately because I don't have to do it all inside! I feel way more motivated to work out when it is warm outside!! I can't wait until summer!!!

So life has been interesting lately. I'm done with hair school and still don't have a job! I was talking to Devin the other day, trying to figure out what to do with my life! I love to do hair so much but I know that's not all that I want to do. I want to get back into writing and I am toying with the idea of going back to school. I just don't know what kind of writing I am most interested in. I always thought that poetry was the path for me; I'm not quite sure anymore. I have been thinking about possibly journalism. I'm still up in the air about everything. Devin told me to just start writing. He said to just write until I figure out what i love to write about. So, this is me writing until I can figure out what grabs my interest. So I'm sorry if I bore everyone, but I am going to try and post regularly about...any and everything I can think of. I'm so happy I have an amazing husband who wants nothing more than to make me happy. He always gives me great advice!

BIRTHDAY WEEK!

My Birthday was this past week! It was fun because I felt like it really lasted all week because we celebrated Monday to Friday! Monday night we went to dinner with Devin's family! Then Wed was my actual birthday. Devin woke me up early and gave me my presents and took me to Kneaders for breakfast...yum! Then Kristen made lunch for me and Kate because it was Kate's birthday too! She made a delicious recreation of Cafe Rio pork salad! Then Thursday night we had dinner at mom and dad's with the fam and it was quite the feast! We had soup and bread bowls with yummy bread sticks and cheese fondue and for dessert instead of cake we did chocolate fondue! (Lets just say I got the wonderful gift of probably 5 extra pounds as well haha) Then Friday night Devin took me out to dinner and then we went and say the new Movie "When in Rome!" I've been really bad at taking pictures so sorry but my cute husband did get a pic of me on my new beach cruiser that I got! So now I just want summer to come even worse! But to sum it all up I had an amazing birthday! I have the most amazing husband and family in the world! Thanks everyone for such a great week!!

My friend Sarah and her sister hosted the best New Moon party!! All my friends from school went and had a blast! We had some awesome food, took pictures with Edward, and watched Twilight before we left for the midnight premier of New Moon! Which was the BEST movie ever! I don't think that since I was actually 13 I have felt that giggly and giddy! We were all torn all night trying to decide if we were team Edward or Jacob! Very hard decision haha! I sure can't wait until Eclipse comes out!

We did two rounds of pumpkin carving this year! We did our annual pumpkin carving contest with the family. Tyler was the winner and he deserved it because he spent lots of time on details! It was a ton of fun I love Halloween!

This one was Devin's! I have I say I was really impressed with his pumpkin he came up with all the whole thing on the spot and it looked really cool!

We also had a fun date with some friends and carved pumpkins as well! It was a lot of fun! You can never carve too many pumpkins around Halloween!

Sorry it's been forever since I've posted anything! I started day and night school at the beginning of October and haven't had much time to do much. But I finally have a day off and decided to update the blog! School has been going good I recently took an extension class and got certified. Jamie was my model so she was my first client for extensions...it was really fun! So if any of you want extensions give me a call!

This past weekend Devin and I went with his family to watch his uncle ride in LOTOJA! It's a big bike race that starts in Logan and ends in Jackson Hole! So we went and rode in the support car. Along the race there are designated stops for feed stations and you meet your biker on the road and give them new water bottles and all this energizing stuff that looks disgusting! It was fun to watch all the guys who ride it pretty seriously. They don't stop at the feed stations they just ride through, so their crazy wives hold a bag out for them to grab and stand there screaming their names, it was entertaining! Devin wants to ride in it next year so we'll see if I have to be one of those crazy wives...lets hope not! But it was really fun to get away for a few days and I love Jackson Hole so it was fun to shop around a little before heading home!!

Two Whole Years!

Devin and I had our first date exactly two years ago on the 15th!! Crazy huh! I can't believe it has been that long but yet I feel like I've known that cute boy forever! To celebrate we went and rode the Sundance moonlight ride because that's where Devin took me for our first date! We had so much fun! I'm one lucky girl!

LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS OH MY!! Devin and I both had today off so we went decided to plan a little date! So we started off by going to the ZOO. It was so fun to see all the different animals! Lets say we were just as excited as the children haha!! After the Zoo we went to eat at the Red Rock Cafe because we ate there on our honey moon and wanted to reminisce! Then we went shopping at the outlets in Park City! It was amazing to spend the whole day together just the two of us!

Me and my friend Kenzie from school did our very first photoshoot! We were really nervous so we did it together! I am so happy with the way it turned out and am so grateful for Steph for being such a good sport and helping out by being our gorgeous model! I think everyone who looks can see that she could make millions modeling...she's a knock out! It was so much fun, I'm so excited to do another one now! I know the actually photography isn't amazing but that's because I did it with my mom's camera so don't judge haha!!! We took about 350 pictures so I had a hard time picking one that I loved so a just put up a bunch! Yay Kenz we did it!!!

Saturday was Devin's 23rd birthday! My cute hubby is getting so big! We have spent all weekend celebrating!! Devin is so spoiled I let him open his presents late Friday night because he went on a bike ride with a bunch of family at 6 in the morning on Saturday! He got lots of fun accessories for his bike and some clothes! Unfortunately I couldn't get school off on Sat but we were still able to go to the Spanish Fork Rodeo that night! Then Sunday he had 2 birthday dinners...one with my parents and one with his family! We were going to go to the zoo for our little date but haven't found time yet so we are going to go next week sometime so instead we are going to make a cute dinner together just the two of us! I'm so grateful that I was blessed with such an amazing husband! Devin is the most incredible man I know! He is so loving, hardworking and selfless! I know I said he is spoiled but he spoils me more than anything just by how much love he shows me! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE!!

One Accomplishment After another!

I am very proud to say that even though it doesn't show quite yet I'm starting to get into better shape! While up in bear lake Devin and I rode a half century on our bikes! Basically we rode all the way around Bear Lake! Yes Kara actually biked 50 miles with only having to stop twice. I thought I was going to die because the first 25 miles were all up and down hill...I'm very proud of Devin for putting up with my complaining at first but once my legs warmed up I had a blast! I also ran a 5k with Kate during Lavender Days! Unfortunately I realized I do not love the smell of lavender it kinda made me sick while I was running! But I made it to the end and am excited to get into better shape to do another one! I am really going to miss the warm summer days because I am more motivated to exercise when it is warm outside! I'm am getting into biking these days though with Devin, who is REALLY getting into it! He is basically a pro already with all the fancy gear! I'm excited to watch how much I will be able to improve!

Date Night

Friday night Cami and Marc had us over for a BBQ! It was delicious! They went way out and my tummy was very pleased! Then we went to an Owl's baseball game which was fun! It was the first one I'd been to in a while...baseball games just scream summer to me so it felt good! After the game we went to Nickle Cade! funny huh! It was kind of random and totally spontaneous but we had so much fun! I forgot how much fun it is!

4th of July

Devin and I went up to Bear Lake for the 4th of July! We couldn't wait to go! We've missed it so much and I have to say I love that place so much more when I'm there on vacation instead of working! ;) We had a weekend full of adventure and excitement!
My top ten favorite adventures were:

-Paint Ball war with sling shots
-Fireworks in Evanston
-Paddling out into the middle of the Lake in a kiddie pool
-Magic Carpet ride (Devin and his cousin Adam pulling each on a piece of carpet behind the 4-wheeler on the beach)
-Walks on the Beach
-Sunday on the Sailboat
-Watching the boys try and catch carp in the marina
-Going for bike rides on the beach cruiser
-Mario Kart on the Wii
-Getting some sun...we all know I need it!

Devin and I are officially owners of new baby chicks! Last week Devin went and bought 12 adorable little chickies! I'm sad and proud to say they are growing up right before my eyes:) We've only named a few so far! There is Sophie, Oliver, Buster and Chick...oh and dad named one Hordurn!! Grandpa built a chicken coupe a while ago and is now so excited that we have decided to fill it! So give me a few weeks to get sick of them and everyone will be invited over for some bbq chicken!!!

Tyler and Kristen came into town for a week and were able to spend Easter with us!! It was really fun having them in town! Alex and Archie are new best friends..and are both getting so big! It was fun having little ones around for Easter! We miss them already!

BBQ Season

So Devin's new favorite thing to do is BBQ! For his last birthday I got him a grilling bible! He has loved trying out things he has found in there and new marinades he finds from the food network or online!! So far we have done a bunch of different kinds of chicken. Devin also tried grilling some shrimp that he and my family really loved. He has even barbecued some fruit. We have done pineapple and bananas! Our most recent bbq was with our friend Cami and Marc I think the food we did with them has been my favorite so far, we ate chicken-kabobs with pinneapple and grilled asparagus, zucchini and bananas!!

Movie Night!

Devin and I went to see the new movie Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D!! We had a lot of fun! It was nice to get a night out just the two of us! The movie didn't impress us 100% however! The 3D part was really cool and there were fun effects but I'm not going to lie we both fell asleep so maybe that is why we didn't like it so much! That's us in our HOT 3D glasses! They were sweet however they did give us little headaches after a while and I was a little disappointed that they were not the old fashioned ones. The white paper ones with red and blue lenses!!

I've Found My Match!

So a few years back I realized that I was exceptionally good at leg wrestling. We came to this conclusion when I was able to beat my brothers, minus Sam who would probably win right of the bat....but I'll just tell people he is too scared to try! So over the past few years I have wrestled and won all of our guys friends that I met down at Snow and my adorable Husband. (Don't tell anyone though Devin is a little sensitive about the losing to a girl part) :) So when I became friend with Kenzie we both were randomly talking about it and apparently we were both undefeated champs. So this last Saturday we were having a game night and decided that we needed to wrestle each other. Well lets just say...I finally found my match. Kenzie won...she said I put up a good fight but lets be honest...She is one tough girl!!! So I am not undefeated anymore, but at least I can still beat all the men I know!!

BYU BALLET

I have been bugging Devin to take me to the ballet for quiet a while now! He hasn't been to excited about it and is really good at avoiding it! So lucky me, Devin had to go to a show for one of his classes so I finally got to go to the ballet! My friend from school, Kenzie, came with Devin and I! It was so much fun! The production was a double feature of Romeo and Juliet and West side story! Both were really good. I think I liked West side story better because it was a little more upbeat! They had Romeo and Juliet as the second half of the show so Devin, along with a group of guys sitting next to us that had come to support a friend all fell asleep. It was hilarious! Kenzie and I couldn't stop laughing! We tried to get a picture but it was too dark and we couldn't turn the flash on! So I was able to see the ballet and Devin was able to have a great nap so we both came out happy!!

For Valentines Day Devin and I kind of celebrated on Friday because I had school from 9-4:30 on Saturday! So Friday night we went to PF Changs! (Ya an 80-90 minute wait) :( But it was worth it the food was delicious! Then we were going to go to a movie but we were a little too full to sit through one so we decided to buy some used ones from FYE! (mine and devin's new favorite thing to do because we want to have lots and lots of movies and the used movies are really cheap and 100% guaranteed!) Then Saturday morning Devin made me breakfast...crapes...yum! It was adorable! All red everything and some red roses! Then off to school for me but Dev came in to get his hair cut so that was fun!

Then after school we went to my parents house. Devin, Ben and my dad made this fancy candle light dinner for us. With yummy chocolate fondue for dessert!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Today is my Birthday! Yay! I'm officially 21! Devin and I both had school all day today so we celebrated my birthday yesterday! Devin planned the whole day for us! First we went cross country skiing! It was really fun! I had never been before but I really liked it! Plus it was a pretty good workout! Then we came home got some lunch and then went to see Bride Wars! I really liked it...not as much as I thought I would have but it's hard to completely enjoy a chick flick when your husband doesn't care much for it! After the movie we went out to dinner at Tepanyaki! I LOVED IT! Not only was it entertaining but it was so yummy! Basically I've had the best birthday ever because I have the best husband in the world! Yay!!!

They're Home!

As most of you know Jamie and Casey have been living on the Cayman Island for the past 6 1/2 months! Last Sunday they finally arrived back in the US! It's so so so good to have them back! I have missed them both desperately! I don't know if sandy cried more or Taryn, Rachael and I did! Yes there were tears of joy! I'm so glad they're back! Now it won't feel like something is missing at all of our family functions with Jamie back! !! Love you...welcome home!

This was Jamie's first step into Utah's winter wonderland! I'm pretty sure her face tells you exactly how she felt and how much she missed her Island weather at that moment! It was pretty hilarious to witness her first experience of freezing weather it was a priceless moment!

Devin and I had an amazing first Christmas! Of coarse we spent more than we should! But hey might as well while we can right! haha! We has Christmas eve dinner with my parents and grandma Jake and Grandma and Grandpa Brady! Then we opened our pj's from my mom and dad! Then we went to another Christmas eve dinner at Devin's parents! Then we went to the Festival of Lights in Spanish Fork! We opened our presents at Midnight! We decided to make that our new tradition! And I made Christmas stockings for the two of us this year! It took me a while because I has to sew it all by had but I was very proud of how they turned out!
I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas! This is by far the best one I've ever had because I was able to spend it with Devin and with all of our family!

It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like CHRISTMAS!

Devin and I were thinking about getting a real Christmas tree this year for our first tree! But we don't have any room at all for it! So instead we went to Micheal's Craft and bought a little one and just put it on our table! I'm not going to lie...I love it! And yes those presents under the tree have been there since we bought the tree because Devin has already found out everything he is getting so I had to wrap them in hopes that he'll forget all about them...yeah small hopes but still it's the thought!

These are two of my favorite decorations we got this year! The santa we got on sale for way cheap and it's so cute! Unfortunately the snow is getting so deep that is poor little face keeps getting covered!
The nativity is from my grandma and grandpa Brady! Grandpa carves each of the grandkids something for Christmas each year! This year it was that cute nativity! It's so cute but so cool because all the pieces fit together like a puzzle inside the manger!

Candy Time at the Brady's!

Every year for Christmas we make homemade chocolates. It is a long
process. First we have to make the fondant which is the soft candy
that we later dip in chocolate. Mmm my mouth is already watering!

First we have to cook the candy. Until it reaches the right temperature.Then we have to poor it out onto the marble slab! When we
were little they would poor a little into the corner so that we
could each some without attacking the candy. We each would
get our own spoon for taking our samples!:)Then we have to let it cool down!Once it's cooled we get to stir it! You have to stir forever
until it decides to turn consistency. Once it turns we
add coloring and flavor. Typically we do a batch of mint,
orange, olympian cream (kind of carmelly). Sometimes we
do cherry, chocolate, coconut and so on. For some reason Ben decided he needed to pout while
we were making the fondant!Here are the two woman who know what their doing. Grandma
could probably make fondant with her eyes closed! We usually do
it with Aunt Sandy's familybut this year we split up the days
so that we weren't doing 20 batches at once!

Pretty soon it'll be up to all of the girls to carry on this tradition!
I had to talk my mom into doing it this year! Pretty soon it'll
probably be Me, Kristen, Kate, Nat, Steph Jamie and Jerica
caring on the tradition! That is if we can keep everyone
in the same state! I know mom, grandma and aunt Sandy
are looking forward to the day that they get to sit around
and watch us do the work haha!

I took this picture for Jamie! I knew you would appreciate this
more than anyone else this year! Jamie is busy playing in
the sun in the Cayman Islands so she didn't get to make the
candy with us this year, she just gets to enjoy the yummy
results! This is the scrap bowl that makes everyone sick to
their stomach because it is impossible to resist!

Utah Jazz Game!

On Friday Devin and I went to the Jazz game with Taryn and
Troy. It was tonsof fun! There was a little bit of traffic but we made
on time for tip off!

Plus the Jazz won the game! I was a little disappointed with t
he Jazz dancers,however. All they did was dance in a circle the whole
time and occasionally did something together So Taryn and I were a
little bummed because, lets be honest here, my favorite
part of sporting events is the half time and quarter break performances.

So the Jazz bear was shooting t-shirts from the court and
we caught one!!! Now you have to realize we had been trying
to get stuff thrown to us all night by the people going up and
down the isles. It wasn't until the bear shot us a shirt
from the actual court floor! Plus we were in the nose bleed
section and had to kinda had to fight the kids in front of
us for it...in a good way! Taryn loved the shirt so she had to
model it for us! Plus she is going to be stoked that she is
on the famous Devin and Kara blog!

Here we are at the game! Troy was hiding behind Devin
in the picture! So his knee made a debut for us!! It was so
much fun! The people around us probably thought that
Taryn and I were on a date and that Devin and Troy were
on one. It was kind of a girls and guys night out only...together!
Whatever it was it was a blast!!!

school. We went to dinner and then carved pumpkins! It was tons of fun!

This Wednesday I didn't have school, so we took advantage of the free night and carved pumpkins with the family! First of all everyone needs to understand that Dad grew all of the pumpkins that we carved and they were all huge. Mine was not even the biggest and it took Devin and my dad to carry it to the porch. I pratically had to crawl into it to get all the guts out.
As most of you might know our dearest Katharine is having "lil' Arch" soon and we are all hoping that she has him on Halloween because Alex was born on St. Patricks day. So for Ben's pumpkin he carved an amazing stork carrying "lil' Arch" in a blanket. It's adorable. Kristen finally prefected she scary yet very cleaver jack-o-lantern. Kate did a Nightmare Before Christmas pumpkin. Devin carved three pumpkins into his pumpkin. Dad did a great jack-o-lantern as well and then I did a silly face that took me FOREVER to carve.
It was one of our events in a decathlon we have been doing for the past few weeks! It's been a blast! We chose 10 events and the winner gets a prize! Most of our events were some sort of boardgame. We decided to spice it up and had pumpkin carving and a bake-off for two of the events. Unfortunately the decathlon is drawing to an end but it has been so much fun! Not to mention getting to know everyone's true competitive side...except for Ben's....whose competitive side is already known to all! :)

Okay 7 weird or random things about me....where do I begin:
1. So my life could be described with weird or random but I guess one thing is that I don't know why but I always get hiccups. Now these aren't just your average hiccups, I'm talking about the intense, take your breath away, body convulsing hiccups!! And they always seem to last longer than they should and come at the most opportune moments!

2. I am very talented at crossing my eyes. Yeah I know...random! You could ask my friends they will all testify that in almost every "funny-face" picture we've ever taken I've done some sort of face with my eyes crossed! Plus I can cross only one eye at a time. I don't mean I can look to the side so that one eye is in the middle and one isn't. I mean I can have one looking directly at something while the other one is looking at my nose!

3. Kinda gross, but I have an addiction to popping zits! I'm one of those people that can't just pop one zit and walk away from the mirror! I find any and every pop-able mound on my face and spend forever with my face in the mirror popping them all. It's usually about the time that Devin is asking me if I'm okay because I have been silent for 20 minutes that I realize it's time to stop haha!

4. I've always wanted to be a twin! Growing up I had this secret desire to be a twin and I don't really know why! Maybe it's because I was an only girl, but I don't think that is really it because I wouldn't have cared if my twin was a girl or boy! I mean honestly it's like having a best friend that can sleep over all the time and (if it was a girl) your wardrobe would double! I do understand, however, that it's not easy being a twin, but it was my dream! I am 100% happy though not being a twin!!

5. I absolutely hate tomatoes! The funny thing is I've tried to like them. I think they look delicious. But let's be honest, they smell and taste nasty! I do, however, love salsa and ketchup. So I have no idea why I hate them because when I see them I try to eat one, thinking that this time it will taste good. But no...it never works...they are disgusting!

6. I have a new obsession with taking pictures. So I've convinced Devin that I need a really nice camera! Unfortunately I have to wait until Christmas now. But I'm super excited! I love taking nature shots and playing around with different angles and views! As weird as it sounds my favorite thing is to look through the camera and watch the camera focus on different objects. Seriously if you've never done this before try it! It is just cool watching one object stand out from the rest while everything else goes blurry and then changing it up!

7. I am obsessive compulsive when it comes to eating certain things. Things like M&M's, skittles, fruit snacks, or anything that has a variety of color. I have to divide each handful by color. Then I have to eat off of the bigger piles first, just until all the piles have the same amount. Then I eat one from each pile so that at the end I have one of each color left. Then with the next handful I start all over!:)

Our trip to Fish Lake!

Over conference weekend we went to Devin's family's
cabin in Fish Lake! This is the whole gang minus Cindy

Devin and I were determined to go fishing because
we bought fishing licenses. Unfortunately it was
snowing so the fishing didn't last long and we didn't
catch a single fishy:(

...When the fishing was a let down and it
stopped snowing, we decided to try a new
activity. We went and pushed over all the
dead trees in the area.Holly and I decided to give it a try!

Full Moon Ride @ Sundance

Monday was the one year mark of Devin and My's first date!!! On our first date we went to Sundance to ride the ski lift and then ate dinner at Noodles & Company. So I really wanted to recreate our first date but then remembered that I have school from 5pm until 10pm. But then I found out that it was a full moon that night so they did rides until 11 at night! So we went to eat at Noodles & Co. for lunch and then Devin picked me up from school and we went on the lift! It was our first time doing the Full moon ride but it was really pretty...a little chilly but both of us had a great time!

Trip around the lake

In as much as Devin and I are leaving Bear Lake in less than a week, we decided we should drive around the lake because we hadn't! It was about an hour long drive but the view was great! Even though this picture wasn't taken at the prettiest spot, the picture still doesn't do it justice!

The Demolition Derby!!!

This was my first trip to the Demolition Derby! After hiking through all the dusty dirt we were able to weasel our way onto the packed bleachers! It was a blast...and very entertaining! So this won't be our last...especially because Devin is now convinced that as soon as we can afford a truck and a flat-bed trailer he'll be driving in the derby!!

Hobby Cat Adventures

So the other day Devin and I went down to the beach with Norm and Rob ( one of the girls that works at the Motor Lodge husband). I instantly regretted not having my camera! We took the hobby cat down with the four wheeler to take it out on the lake. For those of you who don't know what a hobby cat is, it is a miniature sailboat. It has to pontoons with a tramp-like-thing that you sit on in the middle, then there is a huge main sail and then a front sail. The most people you want to put on it at a time is about three or so. The day before Norm took Devin and myself out on it and taught us how to sail it!! It was a rush! I've never had so much fun!!! Let's just say next summer if we're going to do what we can to get our own. So anyways, back to my story. Norm took Rob out on the hobby cat first because he had never been on one. (side note....the wind was a little crazy that day so Devin went down to borrow a jet ski just in case we needed it....) While Norm and Rob were out Devin let me ride around on the jet ski. We only have one life jacket so I went by myself. The wind was so wild I thought I was going to flip the whole time, so it was a short ride. When they got back Norm let Devin and Rob go out just the two of them...keep in mind this is the second day Devin and been on one and the first for Rob. They went out quite a ways and then came back. On their second trip out they were "flying a hole" which is tipping the hobby cat onto one pontoon. Let's just say it went badly and the whole hobby cat flipped! I'm sitting on the beach with my wide eyes and my mouth hanging open waiting for two heads to pop up, with a sigh of relief they both came up while Norm took the jet ski out the save the day! About thirty minutes later they finally got it up right! When they got back Devin jumped off without his swim suit on...apparently the hobby ripped it off of him...luckily he had under armor on under his suit!! It was a crazy day at the beach and I'm bummed I didn't have my camera!

Last Friday, the 25th was Devin's Birthday! I know I'm a little late but work is pretty crazy up here. We barley have two seconds to sit during the day! Luckily I had a few minutes today! But Devin had a great birthday! He got a big foam love sac, some t-shirts and shorts, the grilling bible, a season of the Simpson's on dvd, and a new life jacket for boating. After a visit from the birthday fairy and an afternoon of work we went to Logan to see the new Batman movie which we loved and would recommend everyone go see it! I was a slacker and forgot to take pictures so I just picked some adorable ones of the birthday boy instead!

Devin's family came up for the 4th of July so we went out on the sailboat!! I am a new fan of sailing...it is my favorite! Especially at dusk when the moon is up and the moonlight shines on the lake! And yes the last picture is of Devin trying to skim board behind the sailboat...unfortunately we didn't have much wind at the time so he didn't get to far but looked very cute in his attempt!!
